Sierra Wedge

Two major developments may soon affect your ability to perform EMG studies: Windows 7 affects HIPAA compliance, and service end of life.

Microsoft is ending support for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020.  Any device running Windows 7, after January 14, 2020 may no longer be HIPAA compliant (HHS Summary).  The Sierra Wedge software will not load onto Windows 10, therefore the Sierra Wedge may no longer be HIPAA compliant in four months.

Second, Cadwell ended production of the Sierra Wedge in 2013. Service contracts are no longer available and the “end of life” date, after which we will no longer be able to provide service or repairs on the unit, is June 30, 2020.

Trade-in Offer for Sierra Summit

To help you transition to our current EMG system, we are offering a limited time Buy Back Program with a trade-in allowance for your Wedge when you purchase the Sierra Summit.

Trade-in Offer for Sierra Summit with Ultrasound

We also offer a musculoskeletal ultrasound unit which allows both EMG and Ultrasound to be combined into single protocol with a consolidated report, giving you a multi-modal, fully integrated Electrodiagnostic System. The trade-in value on your Wedge increases if you upgrade to a Sierra Summit with Integrated Ultrasound. If you would like to see the new Summit, schedule a demo today.

Easy II EEG

A major development is impacting your ability to perform EEG: Windows 7 affects HIPAA compliance

Production of Easy II ended in 2015. The last version of Microsoft Windows that the Easy II was clinically tested on was Windows XP, which Microsoft stopped supporting April 1, 2014.  While Easy II software will load onto a Windows 7 computer, we do not recommend this, as Microsoft announced it will no longer provide security updates, and is ending support for Windows 7, as of January 14, 2020.

Any healthcare provider organization running Windows 7 will need to migrate to Windows 10 to maintain the security of PHI data and be HIPAA compliant (HHS Summary).  The Easy II will not install on a Windows 10 platform and your ability to maintain HIPAA compliance will, therefore, be compromised from January 14, 2020 onward, i.e. approximately four months from now.
