An Industry Mainstay (Continued)

In 1981 the world's first portable instrument was born. An Alaskan physician who frequently traveled to see patients had suggested that the brothers design an instrument that could fit under an airplane seat. The 5200 offered 1 or 2-channel capability, EMG, NCV and standard EP protocols and most important, programmable parameters, writing flash memory, a faster, microprocessor and a built-in printer. Again, Cadwell set the standard for the world.

The 1983 introduction of the 5200A added a real-time display and even more protocols than before. The 5200A was capable of multi-functionality that suited a multitude of needs, from neurologists to audiologists, ophthalmologists and even surgeons. The reliability of this machine was recognized by the industry resulting in record-breaking sales.

1989 brought another revolution in the field of electrophysiology, the introduction of the Excel, Magnetic Stimulator, Quantitative EEG and EEG models. The Excel was the major hit at all the meetings attended. Physician-ready reports were one of the major innovations and eventually led the way to our now highly desired and acclaimed report generator program found in the Sierra II EMG, Easy II EEG and the Easy II PSG today.

During the 1990's the company continued its growth and product innovations, introducing more advanced versions of the previous models. Products became lighter, easier to operate and more affordable than ever. The 1990's also saw the transition from developing and building our own microprocessor based boxes to using standard, high-performance off the shelf computers packaged with our outstanding amplifier designs to provide the utmost in flexibility for the physician.

Throughout Cadwell Laboratories' history, one constant has remained: The brothers' primary focus on developing neurodiagnostic and monitoring devices that are innovative, flexible, easy to use and affordable.
